(a)MERICAN (s)TANDART (c)ODE oF (i)NFORMATION (i)NTERCHANGE
Back again, and now I with proud could call this a 'real' Gazette, as
it has been released more than one issue! And I still do it for the
same reasons as the last issue. I have again produced a magazine with
Ascii-News, Facts and Lists.
Since we have a scene out there with about 450 more or less active
Ascii-artists (28 new since last issue the 12/12'95), and a lot bigger
crowd with fans and supporters of the Ascii, I thought that it was time to
define this subject, and bring you all a hopefully quite true story about
what really went on during these years when it all happened. Here you could
read about almost EVERYTHING that has something to do with Ascii. As
someone told me, this aint a Gazette, it's a Dictionary for the Artist
of Today! Do click your way through lists over the active artists of
today and see who joined which group the latests days. Now with this new
issue it all is a bit updated too, so hopefully even more entertaining
this time!
This is, and will always be really stunning experience, thats for sure.
Special subjects for this issue are (together with many others) E-Mail,
Boards, Release-Lists, and many explenations about what really happened
to the groups that dissapeared.
This production is absolutly not only for the ones involved in this
wonderful scene. Quite the contrary, since most of the teaching parts
of Ascii-Gazette are formed to get everones attention. A Beginners Guide,
as well as the Professionals Dictionary!
How to read this? Well, use your keyboard, or the arrows in the menu.

I used a program called 'Magnum' to put together this production. Magnum
is a program that I got without a doc, and since there aint no © info
in the code of it, I could only thank the author, whoever it may be.
About the comments that came when people discovered that I used this
program, I have to say: I'm a very demanding person, I like to do things,
I like to do them correct, and quite effective. I couldn't impossibly
finish this project and the have to wait 5 mounths for a coder to make
a special coded version of the Ascii-Gazette. That's why I choose the
easy and simple way, using a program that some would call 'lame' like
this one. But, I'm terribly sorry if this is the way you feel about it,
but in that case don't even bother to execute the porgram, read the
text-version of the Gazette instead. When I found this program I saw it
as the best alternative, and though I probably shouldn't have done the
same thing today, I'm not THAT disappointed with what it does. Think
again, do you really dissaprove it THAT much? It's quite descrete and
displays the ascii fast and easy, and it's really simple for me to use
when I make the Gazette, so I can't say I concider it as THAT lame.
I'd like to appoligize for my english grammar that probably is terrible
bad at a couple of places, and for my lousy Iff that I used in the intro
pictures and in the menu. Otherwise, the credits for this production
would be like this;
Facts and Text by: [ Xcluziwe / Sos ]
Iff-Pictures by: [ Xcluziwe / Sos ]
[ WGJR / Eup ]
Module by: [ Laimbrain / Grt ]
Additional Facts: [ Fatal / E^d ]
[ Desert / Dzn ]
[ Exocet / Al ]
[ Drakar / At! ]
[ Relief / -T ]
[ Trivial / Ds! ]
[ Cesium / Session ]
[ Lord / Absolute ]
[ Princip / Qtx ]
Xcluziwe logo: [ Stylez / C! ]
And other artists in the different parts.
Most of them credited at next to their logo.
Anyone forgotten? Hope not, sorry, in case!
And please! DO NOT forget that also the Menu-Pages are two, so you could
push the [>]-arrow there too, to list the second page of the menu.
If you must/like to get in touch with me, do reach me at most of Swedens
major Elite-Bbs's, or at the very exclusive Ascii-Gazette Contact Head-
Quarter, Fatal's very recently opened board, Another Step. The Number
is +46-21-330975, and do visit it, as it's swedens first 100% Ascii-Board,
and this is where you find all the swedish artists.
Hope you'll enjoy this, and perhaps even learn a bit? And to all the
facts that may not be true, I'd really like to correct them, get in
touch with me for updates, so that the next (if there ever will be any?)
issue will bring the very correct facts.

release, 03h50m Am the 21/01 - 1996.
The Real Background
- -÷-------------------÷- -
In last issue we gave you a story about the background of the ascii-scene
that was quite made on unbased facts. But now, today we have here, with
the facts directly from Exocet, a much more probably story about how it
all begun. Many thanks to Exocet who gave these facts exclusive to A.g.
The very first ascii-crew was Da Hood founded by a guy called Mofo.
I guess, nobody remembers them nowadays. Next were Unreal, they had these
famous ascii-conferences on boards like House of Pain and the Ghetto.
G^style came up shortly after that the next crew to emerge was the group
of your humble story - teller: Arclite :). After Unreal had died, Skin and
Amblin founded a new group by the name of Dezign which seems to be regret-
tably dead by now. When G^style had kicked the bucket , some of their
members said good-bye or joined rather new groups like UpperClass or Art,
one of them joined us. So, that's it, as far as i recall it, hope it was
a help.
/ Exocet
They sure was a great help! I'm really deeply grateful for information like
this. If you could support A.g. with facts simular to this, do not hesitate
to contact Xcluziwe today. Just a short notice, since Desert recently has
been active releasing under the Dezign label, I still concider Dezign as an
alive group, but do correct me if I'm wrong. And, please help me to fill in
who all the members in Da Hood has been through times, would be appriciated.
Do read more about this at the 'About Dezign'-part.
Ascii-Group HeadQuarters
- -÷------------------------÷- -
Here they are, all the boards that have been more or less involved with
all the ascii-crews through the years.
Boards mentioned with ( ) are not hq's, only boards where you could meet
users from the groups. And the sign - declares that I really don't know
who the sysop is or if that group really had any own headquarters.

All the Releases
- -÷----------------÷- -
A pretty common answer to the question if a artist reads all the coll-
ections that are released is probably 'No there are way to many to
notice them all'. Here have I tried to complish a list of all collections
that came to Sweden (and that ought to be atleast about 97%) during the
period since the latest Ascii Gazette. And how many are they then?
The first Gazette was released the 12/12 -1995? Well, the ones I've
stored on my harddrive aint less than 150 collections! And the last
update was made just some hour before this Gazette was released.
Note that Jedi Arts won't use any abbrevation so their two collections
are on different places, and that the 7 House Of Style-releases are
originally two but splitted into stylish 2 and 5 parts.

Artists with Release-Lists
- -÷--------------------------÷- -
A list of most of the artists who in their latest works have included a
release-list. So, here they are, the REALLY active ones. Now, I know
many have very special thoughts about Quality and Quantity, but you all
gotto admit that activity sure is fun. And all Quantity DON'T have to
be of less good Quality.
The artists who now follows are sure also probably some of the absolute
most active, you'll see that for yourself when you see their amount of
releases. If I've forgot some productive oldskooler/newbie who should be
here then feel free (as always) to update me with the latests facts.
And why is then the design of these lists different? Well, all the lists
are snapped from the artists lastest collection, and in some cases a bit
edited to be as fresh as possible (sorry for that guys!) but kept in their
original style to please (?) the author.
Do notice that this list is very limited, I only included the artists from
who I recently had got a collection with any release-facts within.
These are the artists I found lists from in pretty recent released
collections;

And Now Back To The Mag Where The Next Part Is About
the Terrible
Ripping
- -÷-------÷- -
To rip something, is the same as copying another artists work and use it
in your own production with your tag instead of the real authors. Rip-
ping has been a part of the Ascii-scene for a long time now. People
being accused for rip's in collections is something that aint to uncommon
in collections from years ago, and recently happened 'quarrels'.
To describe this as simple as possibly, I choosed to include two of all
thee quarrels trough times, I have NOTHING against the artists involved,
and the reason I choosed these two was only a coincident.
The first one is from an 'oldskool' colly by 911, where he accuses Exocet.

As you could see, quarrles have always been a sad part of the ascii-scene,
a more recent, acctually pretty noticed, quarrel was between Desoto and
Czar, or more likely between Fatal and Czar, since fatal were the one who
spoke for desoto. Czar had ripped Desotos dot-characters, and Fatal proved
this in a textfile where he compaired the logos in a way which looks like
this;

|____________________________________|____________________________________|
If all people who have 'borrowed' others ascii should be mentioned here,
a way to long and sad list would appear. But this is something that noones
likes, and I really hope that it is something that will disapear in the
future.
There is many types of 'ripping' too. These are four of the ways to rip;
1. To 'snap' out a part/whole logo from someone elses works.
2. To 'snap' out characters from someones else so you could write whatever
you like with the other ones style.
3. To take a single/some few characters from someone else and use them
together with your ordinary style. The most common way of ripping.
4. To look at someone elses art and try to/succeed with a freehand copy
of it just because you thought it looked nice. The most harmless way.
Coop-Collections
- -÷-------------÷- -
This is something that recently have been popular. Also some old legends
like Skin and Amblin used this way to present their art. Coop is the
same as Coperative, and the idea is simple enough to release your art
together with a another artists creations, that results in a for the
reader a more variating collection, and it increases the size.
Famous Coop-collections;
Skin & Amblin
Fatal & Chrombacher
And many, many more, but to mention one of them would demanding to mention
so many more, so I could only adivce you to check out the rest of them.
And coop-collections seems like something that will be really popular in
the future too. Loads of projects are on the scetchboard, and many of them
seems to prove that the future will bring many good coop-releases.
Ascii-Magzines
- -÷--------------÷- -
Is something that defintly seems to be really popular right now. After
the great success of the first real Ascii-magazine, the ArtMag produced
by RoadHogz (who they are? see the RoadHogz-part) suddenly the whole
scene went crazy and started to support and follow the evolution of the
ascii-scene.
ArtMag was created using amiga-guide and included lists over the latest
mounths released collections and a special vote-panel where the best
artist and the best ascii-group was voted. The votes were made with
simple messages and text-files to the editors, and therefor not what I'd
call the 100% reliable thruth. But there was a /X-door-project going on
and ArtMag hoped to be able to use Flite's 'ArtChart-door' as soon as
possible.
What was RoadHogz created for then? And what did they do if the liked ascii
but didn't produce any themselves? The answer were that they concisted of
some pc-dudes who leeched the collections and spread them through their
pc's all over europe. And they also added a special tag at the bottom of
every collections which proved that the collection had been spread by a
RoadHogger. It looked like this;
[%::::::::::::%] rOadhOgged [%::::::::::::%]
This passage through a pc made some chars in the collections to change.
Acctually quite alot, just look at this;
Original: Roadhogged:
¦ ------------> ª
¬ ------------> ¼
¯ ------------> »
· ------------>
Ä ------------>
ä ------------> S
ö ------------> ÷
í ------------> ø
ì ------------>
¡ ------------> í
¤ ------------> ñ
That makes quite a difference, take a look at this ascii by DeathLord,
and how it looks like when Roadhogged;
Original: Roadhogged:
. . . .
¯| |||/ »| |||/
| | +\_ | | +\_
_j .(__o/ _j .(__o/
|_ ¦¯ ¯¯\ |_ ª» »»\
|\\l l\_)_ |\\l l\_)_
| \(____¯__ ) | \(____»__ )
|{_¯ _}|| ¦ |{_» _}|| ª
`-| | || l_ `-| | || l_
/¯dL! ¯\ll___) /»dL! »\ll___)
There came a converter from Count Zero ( rooDe-Hog 1.0 ), but some chars
became single spaces, and that's impossible for every converter to fix.
So everything wasn't as pleasing as it could have been. Phase and Vinzi
didn't at all like the pc-transport of the collections and created a
group called A4 (Ascii Artists Against Artmag).
Also the general reaction of the trade with pc's were very bad, but the
scene seemed to like the idea of a ascii-mag though, and the general advice
was for RoadHogz to quit the trade but to keep their mag.
ArtMag dissapeared with Zen as he moved to Botswana (see the RoadHogz-part)
and the new main-editor became Satans Fire. Now, this was where the mag
started to dissapear. It got heavely delayed and when it came were it fill-
ed with really stupid mistakes that made the main impression really nega-
tive. Every since that latest double-issue hasn't anything at all been
heard from RDZ and I think the mag is delayed with about 4 mounths by now.
Well, read more about this matter in the RoadHogz-part, and now to what
else is coming up in the ascii-magazine business.
The rumors about Mark Ryder's ascii-magazine has been quite well-spread by
now, and Mark Ryder himself tells us that it'll be out sometime after he
has finished his military service later this year. But no further comments
about what it'll include and how it'll look. But it'll be a amiga-guide-
project.
I've also heard about another big project that is on the scetch-board,
ready to get released soon, anyway this winter/spring. It'll be a special-
coded ascii-magazine with loads of feautures and many wellknown editors.
But as it's really classified I can't tell you any more.
This magazine, Ascii-Gazette, has rechieved many positive reactions
(not only positive ones though) and I'm pleased to see that all my work
wasn't just thrown away. This issue, Number 2, will perhaps/probably be
the last one, the requirements I had to continue with the Gazette-project
was that I got help from persons, and that I developed new parts of it as
AsciiCollection-reviews, Previews, Interviews, Group-pages, Advertisments
and much more. I now has gotten a new offer to join a different magazine,
which I'm very interested in. And I will perhaps also make some ascii-
pages in the ST-magazine that will be reborn soon. That is what has made
me change my mind about this magazine, and that is perhaps also the
reasons that I abandon it after this issue. But we never know for sure,
do we? And I havn't made up my mind to 100% percent yet...
RoadHogz
- -÷--------÷- -
Was created by Zen (known as =Zen=, he quitted the scene after his first
and last collection and moved to Botswana) and made for the reason to
spread collections all over Europe and to create the worlds first ascii-
magazine, called ArtMag. But members who only traded ascii on Pc's based
really big problems (see the Ascii-Magazines part) and the earlier so
positive reaction to RoadHogz became reversed as they acctually did
destory large parts of several collections.
The complete memberlist of today would look like this;
Zen - Ascii: Independant - Editor: Ex. - Tag: =Z= - Amiga
Satans Fire - Ascii: Caustic Style - Editor: Main. - Tag: sF! - Amiga/Pc
SalOne - Ascii: Twisted - Trader: Yes - Tag: sAL1 - Amiga
Diablo - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Pc
Mario - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Amiga
Twister - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Amiga
Hybrid - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Pc
Jopiter - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Pc
Inferno - Ascii: Independant Trader: Yes - Tag: IfN - Pc
The Doctor - Ascii: None Trader: Yes - Tag: - - Pc
Zaphod - Ascii: Caustic Style Trader: Yes - Tag: zd! - Pc
As you see are many pc-owners, and thats where the problem with RoadHogz
lies. They had searched for the coder of the Pc-asciieditor they used to
ask him if he could fix the converting-problems, but he refused. So, as
it seems now could we only hope that RoadHogz will continue to release the
ArtMag (it sure is a great idea, and now is the ArtChart finished too) and
that it'll be as great as it was in the first issues. But dont bring back
the roadhogging on collections, since it seems like the ordinary amiga-
traders can take care of that part themselves. But we do miss the ArtMag.
Atre
- -÷----÷- -
Atre (please do notice, not the same as Crazy and GraveDancers old, dead
group Arte) is perhaps the newest ascii force on the scene of today, and
this is what Drakar (one of the founders) tells us about this group;
Arte are Artists from Honey, Whale and Shoot.
Atre is a sub-division of Honey that is totally dedicated to doing asciis
and ansis to compete in the rapidly growing Ascii Scene. Hopefully we will
prove to become a major ascii force in the years to come!
I'm just curious about one thing, 'artists from Honey, Whale and Shoot' ?
Drakar is from Honey, Gozz is also from Honey, but the third member,
Homicide were in Offspring. So, who are the artists from Whale and Shoot?
Please do tell me this if you know anything!
About Dezign and Arclite
- -÷------------------------÷- -
There is some fuzz about however ShapeChanger is a member of Dezign or not.
I, myself choosed to include him on both groups since it seems like nothing
is for sure right now? Acctually I do live in the same part of Stockholm
(Tyresö) as ShapeChanger and we even went in the same school together, all-
though I don't know him personally, so it would be quite easy to get this
problem solved, but Patrik will probably tell us himself soon, when his
first 'back from the army'-collection arrives.
But this part that comes now is written by Exocet/Arclite;
Just for the records and to stop some rumours going around: ShapeChanger
has joined arclite a while ago + isn't a member of dezign, whale or shoot
ascii department or whatever. Arclite artists produce for arclite
exclusively as you certainly have noticed in the past.
The same is true for our newest member a.k.a U-man who has left whale
to hang out with us in the future. His awesome bbs Final Impact will be
available for your pleasure as an arclite swedish hq soon again.
Dhm is not in Arclite anymore. so would all the guys publishing a mag
please pay attention to that, thanks. I am also available for all the
newest info on arclite via my e-mail address.
Could be found in the 'Artists with an E-Mail'-part.
Earlier in the text there is a part where Exocet declares that;
'The group by the name of Dezign which seems to be regrettably dead by now.'
And this, together with the ShapeChanger quarrel, is what have causted
the reply to the latest part, which comes here from Desert/Dezign;
To the rumours that Shapechanger left Dezign and joined Arclite: i don`t
believe that especially coz it`s spreaded by Mogue, and why should he
left ? I think that will be solved soon.
To Dezign: Most of the old members are inactice since a long time, Skin
left the scene, Amblin concentrates himself more in consoles , Red Devil
worked for a Softwarecompany but what he is doing today , nobody knows,
heard nothing of Boomer since 2years and Shapechanger is still in the Army.
But that all doesnt means that Dezign is dead or nearly dead than Dezign
was never planned as a normal group. The idea was more a label of quality
under the name DEZIGN including some of the world-best ascii and ansi
freaks with friendship as mainconnection between the members. So as long
as anybody of the real members is still in the scene under the DEZIGN
label, Dezign is still alive, if not it will still live as a legend.
There is no chance for anybody to get into the group. It will live or die
in it`s existing form. It has nothing to do with Arrogance, it just
results in the conception of the group.
So there they are, both of the sides of the story. Until the real facts
apprears, I guess you'll all just have to make your own conclusions and
wait.
About OffSprings Death
- -÷----------------------÷- -
Here is the words from Relief of ex-OffSpring and where he declares about
the reasons that killed OffSpring especially for VietCong. Directly from
the nowadays Twisted member, the real story;
At one point hotwire had been busy with other stuff and oS! sort of needed
some one to orginize the different stuff,or at leeast thats what i thought,
then he told me that he would be away for some time and i was given the
'control' of oS! untill he returned,he told me not to let inn to many members
and mess things up too much etc. at that point i had tried for some time to
keep track of different things is oS!
I then let Snuffy join in,since i thought os! could use his skills and i asked
him and it was okay. Then time whent by and htw! came back and things where
going okay, alot of releases etc then suddenly drakar was a member, which i
and nobody else in os! knew about, just saw a os!colly where drakar wrote that
hotwire had let him in our crew...i then got sort of pissed at htw for no
telling me that a new member had joined, then a week after a new colly was
u/l'ed at our board where it said that some doode called homocide was
the arthour and again nobody knew about it,not even htw! At that point
i was getting a bit borred with ascii and os! and thought about leaving os!
to go on a solo tip! At that point me and htw had talked a bit about it and
we where both angry about shit happening. We talked about kicking members
and came up with some doodes which we agreed on shoudl be kicked, your name
was also there, but htw said that you where on of the original members and
shouldnt be kicked and i agreed on that. So we didnt kick any members afterall
things just whent onn.I didnt feel like being the one who should kick one
member,i feelt that i where pretty good friends with everybody is os! and
didnt want to ruin that.
One week after or so,htw said that he would leave os! and asked me if i wanted
to stay in os! and then be the main man. I didnt like that idea it was a bit
borring in os! and as i wrote,i had thought about leaving os! so we talked
abit and we wanted to start a new group, found a name for it,talked about which
members we wanted from os! to join us in the new crew...we wanted both to start
on a fresh, things was getting borred with os! we had gotten respect from most
crews, had gotten all the logos we could dream of,the troubles with members
and i didnt feelt like being the bad guy who had to fuck everybody up,so im
sorry Tobias, that you feelt like i screwed you over. I just wasnted to start
on a fresh! new set of rooles, pure friendship, not that i dont consider you as
my friend, but you know friendship rooels ;)
All this text found in one of Reliefs more recent collections. Thanks for
letting us know the facts friend!
About Divine Stylers
- -÷--------------------÷- -
The story about why Divine Stylers aint a 1oo% Ascii-group, and how
it all started, here it is! Brought to you by Trivial;
What happened 1995 then? well, divine stylers was formed in june 1995
by trivial and mortimer twang. we wasn't a 'group' from the beginning.
me and mortimer just formed the group because we thought it was a fun
thang, and we still do!. and it just went on. orlingo, radavi, ramirez
dino, whirlwind, vietcong! cybergod!, tommy and other people joined and
'whoops' we were a ascii-group. after one month of existance we was
voted as 4'th best artgroup in roadhogs ' art-mag ' what a surprise!.
people worldwide has heard about ds!, and this was not the main thang
about our 'group'. we just want to have a good time!. i mean 'how to
join divine stylers?' you dont have to do anything your ascii's may be
a nighmare you'r more than welcome if u just got the right attitude!.
People in divine stylers can release whatever they want, whenever, however
we don't care!, because we know that all our members has got the right att-
-itude. some of us, has left for better offers from other art-groups. sure!
we miss them alot!, but we hope that they are having a good time and they
are welcome back at any time. in 6 months time we released 'bout 3o
collections. anyway, who care's bout collections. those textfiles with alot
of chars and stuff that nobody want's to use!(?). maybe we are goin to stop
our ascii activities and become a 100% scene grafitty group. the fact is:
95% of all divine stylers members are involved in grafitti activities in
real liphe!. And the latest news are that yUk (Krusty), ex. pro^arts that
had left the ascii scene, has joined us, fucking great!...
Yours forever... / Trivial/Ds!
And b.t.w., Trivial, you sure made the text-fixing of this part to a real
heavy thing to rewrite. Jesus, I worked on it for hours. :)
Groups Active
- -÷-------------÷- -
These are instead the active groups of today. With the members as they
are situated today.
And about Divine Stylers and Grotesticle, they are the only groups that
aint 100% Ascii-groups, but I included them anyway, since they have members
who releases for them as they were ordinary Ascii-groups. And if there are
artists who appear on more than one place, thats only because they are about
to change group or simply are accepted as artists in more than one clan.
As I've never heard of some of these groups members, I can't possible know
their tags, so these few tags are written with a ' ° ' infront of them, to
make you aware of this. I only made a few guesses to these names.

Now Brings You One Of The Most Complete Lists Ever Developed,
The List Of
All the Artists
- -÷---------------÷- -
This is, believe it or not, a list of ALL artists (that we've been able to
spot), who sometime in their lifes has released something that could be
called an Ascii-collection. The names listed below, My gentlemen,
are The Artists.
Quick key-definition should go like this: - = Artist don't use any tag.
Easy eh? Well, lets go then, 452 Artists. And that means that there since
the first issue of the Ascii Gazette has appeared 28 new artists on our
beloved Ascii-scene. Please bring us more names, if you know any, by
telling about them to xClUZiWe at any board or (for fastest update) at the
Ascii Gazette Station, Another Step. By the way, this part of the Ascii-
Gazette was done with some help from the sysop himself, Fatal.

Artists Leaving
- -÷---------------÷- -
These are the guys who left a group for another Ascii-group.
ShapeChanger left Dezign and Whale for Arclite? Or will he stay?
U-Man left Whale for Arclite.
Cybergod left Divine Stylers for Whale.
Acid Kid left Whale.
Mazza left UpperClass for Art.
Nup left Whale for Atre.
Leaving the Scene
- -÷-----------------÷- -
This are the guys who left their groups and also the whole Ascii-Scene.
Count Zero left Whale and the Ascii-Scene?
Dhm left Arclite and the Ascii-Scene.
Skin did obviously leave the scene a while ago but is still within
Dezign as an ascii-legend.
Artists News
- -÷------------÷- -
Shapechanger is within both Dezign and Arclite?
Arclite will soon open a IRC channel especially for Arclite.
Twisted has their own Internet-HomePage?
Protest was formed by GraveDancer and Data.
Atre was found by Drakar and Gozz.
Head was found by Punk and Gangsta.
New Whale leader is Lord Chaos?
Rotox returened to the Ascii Scene.
Desert returned to the Ascii Scene.
Seems like WishBringer is back in House Of Style?
Another Step is now Epsilon Design Whq and Azkiness Shq.
Renames
- -÷-------÷- -
The ones who during their history as Ascii-artists have changed handles.
This could be a hard part for a artist, as there is very hard to get an
reputation, and when you've got it, to get the crowd to understand that
you aint the one you used to be, that could take ages for some.
The same problem exist when you change/rename a group.
Grimlock ( GRiMLOCK ) -> Jedi ( Jedi )
Note that this Grimlock is NOT the same as the one known as g®m. Jedi has
acctually sadly enough quitted the scene a while ago. He was within here
because he was the only new one through times that I've discovered has
changed his handle except for the other ones in the first issue.
Questions
- -÷---------÷- -
Here they are, the questions that the poor victims have to answer. If you
don't remember, these are the victims who until now have had to stand up
and answer;
Fatal - fTL - E^d
Desoto - dto - M's
Grimlock - g®m - E^d
Behemoth - bHm - Sos
Mazza - mAZ! - Art
Skize - skZ - ex-Wl!
And this is what they had to face;
o1. When did you make your first Ascii attempts?
o2. Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?
o3. What's so damn special with Ascii?
o4. Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?
o5. What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?
o6. Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?
o7. Do you read every single collection that is released today?
o8. Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?
o9. How should a request be written to be guarantied a answer from you?
1o. Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?
11. What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?
12. What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
dedicated to the Ascii-scene?
13. Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii and Ascii of today?
14. Have you any special projects going on that will be released in a
near future?
15. What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you suddenly quitted?
16. Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?
Behemoth
- -÷--------÷- -
o1. When did you make your first Ascii attempts?
It was in early '93, after being amazed with what you could make with only
standard chars. I developed a own style after I had gotten my first
request.
o2. Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?
Yes. (15)
o3. What's so damn special with Ascii?
I think it is just like everything else that you can create in the scene,
you get amazed by what others create and want to try it out. I get that
feeling everytime I see something that is new.
o4. Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?
Yes, Karma and Shapechanger really amazed me when I watched their
collections for the first time.
o5. What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?
I really love it when the person knows what they are doing. Like the way
Mortimer Twang uses it in his collections.
o6. Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?
It depends on how you use it, regular and dots look great together, but I
think it's harder to come up with goodlooking regular style than it is to
create dotstyle.
o7. Do you read every single collection that is released today?
No, only the ones from artists and groups that are rather well known. I
almost never read peoples first collection.
o8. Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?
Only when I'm working on a ascii collection that I want to fill up a bit
since I don't get any requests (that's why I have lots of logos to those
who actually request from me ;))
o9. How should a request be written to be guarantied a answer from you?
As long as it isn't insulting in any way, you can write it in about any way
you want. But if you throw in a few nice remarks that you like what I'm
doing you'll be the first to get an answer.
1o. Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?
Maybe in some aspects. The group can hold together better if they're more
local, but it almost seems like everyone has to start a new ascii group,
like he belives that he is too good/bad to be in one of the existing ones.
11. What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?
We're seeing to many hostile remarks from ascii artists. This is supposed
to be a friendly scene, remember?
12. What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
dedicated to the Ascii-scene?
As long as the ones who pulls the strings know what they are doing, it can
really become something interesting (like this!)
13. Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii and Ascii of today?
Definately, oldskool ascii are more symmetric while today's ascii can look
in almost any way. Newskool artist rely more and more on design and humor.
And if we compare the newskoolers with the oldskoolers they have a nicer
attitude to ascii. That ascii is something individual and not so serious.
14. Have you any special projects going on that will be released in a
near future?
I have an oldskool collection, that is waiting for me to fininsh. I have
tried to make it look like collections from '92 - '93.
15. What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you suddenly quitted?
Studying, my grades look lite shit!
16. Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?
I'm fucking collecting them!

When did you make your first Ascii attempts?
Hmm... not very long ago. My first colly was released in May'95,
but my very first ascii-attempts must have been around November'94!
So I am not really an ewldskewl dude... thank god!
- o2 -
Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?
Yes, of course I do; 15 collies by me, and a coop by Snuffy
and me (TjaSiDet.Txt) - a very nice colly, in fact.... (click!)
- o3 -
What's so damn special with Ascii?
Weirdness. The darn weirdness. It is kinda weird making logos
and pictures of letters, isn't it? Weirdness has always been a part
of my lame soul.
- o4 -
Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?
No, they are all bigtime loosers, whom never could be my idols! ...
geeeh.. sorry, that must have been my dark half. Whut can I say?
Read the respect list in my colly! But I do like artists who
appreciate the art of orginality.
- o5 -
What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?
I have no opinion about it. Just know that I have never used it,
and that I probably never will. But that doesn't mean I hate the
iff2ascii-art! It just isn't my style!
- o6 -
Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?
Dots are very nice - IF you know how to use them!! I have tried
dotting ... and failed!
- o7 -
Do you read every single collection that is released today?
Do you watch every soap-opera at television? It is simply impos-
sible to read all collies, there are just too many of them! I down-
load all collies I get my hands on see, and that is kind of many!!!
- o8 -
Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?
I don't even read them. I am an arrogant lamer!! Hehehehehe..
- o9 -
How should a request be written to be guaranteed an answer from you?
It should be written on a rektum-super-huge-dildo, and sent by mail
to me. Then you have a 100%-guaranteed-answer-request. If you can't
afford a dildo, or simply want to use it on yourself, then do not
fear! There IS another way! Just write me a non-asciidoor-messy,
and you will probably end up with a lame ascii from the slave of
lameness (yours truly, that is!).
- 1o -
Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?
No, there should be more! Just like the once-so-kool demoscene!
More groups = bigger asciiscene = najs!!
- 11 -
What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?
Fuck the standard ascii-attitude! It is way too serious!! I hate
the whole oldskool-idea!! I hate it so much, that I want to convert
to heterosexuality! What is the point of being an arrogant son
of a bitch, who doesn't have any respect of todays newcomers,
and just respect the "talented" old farts who haven't released
a colly in years. And do you know why they haven't!?!! Because
their asciis suck so much, that they would probably loose all the
respect they once gained.. haha.. I do only respect active artists!
It is they who keep the ascii-scene alive, not them "oldfoolers"!!!
(uh-oh.. have I started an "open letter" war now!??!).
upload your open-letters, collies, requests, messys at the worlds
nicest ascii-board! 60mb++ with ascii-collies online!

Make the ascii-scene a better place to be!
Gather around -Another·Step-
- 12 -
What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
dedicated to the Ascii-scene?
I just luv it!! They are adding more ascii-atmosphere in the ascii-
scene! The ascii-scene is starting to look like the demo-scene!
Man, I love it! M<an, I love the ascii-scene! More mags! More mags!
- 13 -
Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii
and Ascii of today?
Wops.. The Oldskool issue again..more aggressive words! But I can
add something. The quality of today's asciis variates very much, but
I can say one thing for sure; they are better than the old asciis.
Many of the oldskool-asciis are unstructured, badsmelling and
lame. Some of them are very nice, though. Don't want to generalize
anything, but in the big picture, the average oldskooler is
less talented than the average "newcomer". Just because some dudes
happend to be in the scene some years earlier than us newcomers,
doesn't make them gods!
- 14 -
Have you any special projects going on that will be released
in the near future?
Several! hehehe..... naah...... I like the smell of spontaneity.
However, as my asciis suck, I will try to develop my style, and
hopefully I will never me satisfied with my asciis, cuz then
I would suck even more. I will try to come up with some original
(and probably totally lame) ideas. I will try to fuck the norm,
even though it is rather hard to produce non-cliches.... but if all
the future ascii-collies will be like most of them are today
(logos+index+preface+asciis+credits+respect+theend), then I can't
see any reason to continue!
- 15 -
What do you think about the wellknown ascii-wars, and the open-
letter-generation?
One of my dreams is to get an open-letter dedicated to me. I
wish somebody started hating my guts so much that they released
a bunch of war-text-files! Ooh.... Wargasm, wargasm!!
- 16 -
What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you
suddenly quitted?
I would probably be a elajt-trada', tradin' warez!!! ..... or maybe
I could spend more time with my legodudes.
- 17 -
Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?
No, but I have a quite sexy cat, called 'Ibsen'...
Mazza

o1. When did you make your first Ascii attempts?
-- Back in 1990, just when I entered the modem/bbs scene with a poor
2400bps modem. That was cool haha NOT
o2. Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?
-- Of course I do, I'm not someone who's releasing collections like
a fucking robot.
o3. What's so damn special with Ascii?
-- Nothing special about it, I just like watching well designed stuff,
and since this is the only way to do it, it's cool.
o4. Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?
-- Sure, I always loved the stuff Splatt has done. But that doesn't mean
he's my idol or something, I just liked the stuff he and a FEW others
did.
o5. What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?
-- Well, when the 1st converter by Beermacht got released it was something
special what everyone was using since you didn't need anything than a
clean font. That what most people did to advertise their board, just as
now. Unfortunately the logos and stuff fucked up when Kick 2.0 got re-
leased, so most ppl quitted it. Now there's something else where the
IFF gets converted to °© characters, and to be honest, I like it somehow
althought it's not the same.
o6. Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?
-- No, but it's cool if you got a cool style which is only possible if
you do it with dots. I guess that's the only reason why ppl using it.
o7. Do you read every single collection that is released today?
-- No, I'm only downloading collections from more of famous artists or
ppl I know.
o8. Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?
-- Pardon?
o9. How should a request be written to be guarantied a answer from you?
-- Normally I just do ascii's when I'm in the rite mood, so you don't have
to write long letters to get one, although I don't like ppl which I
never heard before begging me for an ascii just w/ "Hey, do me a xyz!"
1o. Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?
-- No, there're already too much of them now.
11. What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?
-- What attitude? I don't listen to people I don't respect, and I don't
really respect that much people.
12. What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
dedicated to the Ascii-scene?
-- If it's done well, cool, but it should be done by people who
know what's going on.
13. Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii and Ascii of today?
-- Well, not really, but well, most of the times I still prefer watching
logos from so-called "oldschool" artists than from anyone else, just
because it tooks YEARS to improve your style. There're some artists
where all the newcomers got their roots from, that's ok as long as
they know where they got their styles from.
14. Have you any special projects going on that will be released in a
near future?
-- Well, I'm gonna do some co-op release together w/ Rotox and Desert,
no idea what it will be exactly, some ascii shit I guess :)
15. What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you suddenly quitted?
-- haha, hey, ascii's aren't my life, so what the fuck?
16. Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?
-- Unfortunately not.

o1. When did you make your first Ascii attempts?
- Summer '94 for a friends board. Did all the board design plus some other
stuff.
o2. Do you know how many Ascii-productions have you released?
- I think it's five or something, don't remember really! =)
o3. What's so damn special with Ascii?
- Well it's a lifestyle that, right now, too many people has discovered
so at this moment there is a lot of crap asciicollections floating around
at all the boards. That's why i quited the ascii business.
o4. Have you got any special idols from the Ascii-scene?
- Karma and Danzig are awesome, but Vinzi is a personal idol.
o5. What's your opinion about the Iff2Ascii-Art?
- Pretty cool actually. Not much of 'true' ascii art but looks great!
o6. Are dot's more stylish than 'regular' Ascii?
- Dot's were the first thing i tried out as a lamer back in '89 or
something on my real elite compact disks. And since I was a
'regular' iff graphics (and still are) they were very simple
to do, but desoto really revolute the dot ascii's when he did his
marvelous asciis. So Dot asciis are very stylish but I (if I still
did ascii) would do the dot logos as some kind of design thing.
o7. Do you read every single collection that is released today?
- No to much shit collys released all the time.
o8. Do you answer requests made to 'All Available Artists' ?
- No.
o9. How should a request be written to be guarantied a answer from you?
- You have to write 100 messages and olm me evverytime you see me!
(Hi scarface =))
1o. Are there more Ascii-groups than there has to be?
- Well haven't seen to many ascii groups but there are to many
'independent' artists.
11. What do you think of the attitude in the Ascii-scene of today?
- Donno really. Haven't been too active half-a-year back or something.
12. What do you think about the idea of having special magazines
dedicated to the Ascii-scene?
- Great idea!
13. Is there a big difference between Old-skool Ascii and Ascii of today?
- No idea!
14. Have you any special projects going on that will be released in a
near future?
- No!
15. What would you be doing instead of Ascii if you suddenly quitted?
- Iff graphics!... =) as I'm doing right now!...
16. Do you have a horny snoop doggy dogg?
- Nah!

The first logo up there (not included in the executable version), were
drawn by Anf ( AnF! ). And the second adorable Ascii-Gazette Logo (isn't
to be found in the executable version) was made 5 minutes before release-
time by Fatal ( fTL ). The third logo (neither included in the executable
version) was drawn by Grimlock ( g®m ). And the last splendid logo (not
in the executable) was done by Paszczak ( pSh ). And don't only scan
through this text-file, look at the executable version to get Ascii-Gazette
